Moon Candles

We work our way through the phases by the light of the moon candles.  Each phase and shift a reminder of another change.  The first quarter, drawn by athame, is lit by a small candle.  It is lit for the honoring of change and the pace of nature.  It is honoring the clock and wheel.  We are stuck in the cogs of time.  At present, so many things change.  Things revolve and evolve.  This candle calendar for the moon helps us keep track.  Each week we observe and make a tiny mark.  Each rotation is done with deliberation.  New shoots of grass and new moons growing to full.  Walking in a deliberate path with clover under foot or hoof or heel or paw.  Mindless movements of muscle memory.  We remember.  One phase unto the next.  The candle calendar for our moon phase.  Meditations in the midst of chaos.  One rung bell.  Of spring opening.  Who could tell the open hole in the earth to close?  Graves are plantings.  You spend your sleep with dirt and rock.  Bent tree gates to eternity.
